Jaisalmer Desert Camp Package: Inclusions and Booking Tips
Most desert camps in Jaisalmer sell a one-night package rather than a bare room. That is convenient, but packages are not all built the same, and the difference often only becomes clear on arrival. Here is what a package typically covers, what usually costs extra, and how to book so there are no surprises.
What our package includes
At Jaisan Heritage Desert Camp, every stay includes the following. This is the same list you will find on our tariff page:
- Traditional welcome and welcome drink
- Mineral water bottle
- Evening and morning tea or coffee
- Camel safari
- Sunset on the silky sand dunes
- Rajasthani folk music with dances
- DJ party
- Campfire and bonfire
- Vegetarian Rajasthani buffet dinner
- Overnight stay in a Swiss tent (AC or non-AC)
- Room service
- Hot and cold water
- Breakfast
- Free car parking

In practice, this means a typical stay looks like this: you arrive in the afternoon to a traditional welcome, settle into your tent, head out on the camel safari for sunset, return for the folk music and dance programme around the campfire, have dinner, and wake up for sunrise, tea and breakfast.
What usually costs extra
Across Jaisalmer camps, these are the items most often charged separately. Always confirm before you travel:
- Jeep safari (dune bashing)
- ATV / quad bike rides
- Parasailing
- Private dinner on the dunes
- Transfers to and from Jaisalmer city, railway station or airport
- Sightseeing in and around Jaisalmer
- Extra meals such as lunch, if you arrive early or leave late
At our camp, jeep safari, ATV rides, parasailing and a candle-light dinner on the dunes can all be arranged on request. Ask us about availability and charges when you book, so the full cost is clear upfront. You can read more about each on our activities page.
How package pricing works
Desert camp rates in Jaisalmer are usually quoted per tent for a couple, with an additional extra-bed rate for a third person. Rates then change by season and tent type.
Tent type
We offer Swiss tents with and without air-conditioning. The AC tent costs more, and is most useful in the warmer shoulder months of September, October and March.
Season
To give you a sense of how seasons affect pricing, our published tariff for 2025–26 had three bands:
| Period (2025–26 season) | Swiss Camp (Non A.C.), couple | Swiss Camp (A.C.), couple |
|---|---|---|
| 01 Sep 2025 – 30 Mar 2026 | ₹4,000 | ₹5,000 |
| 21 Dec 2025 – 02 Jan 2026 | ₹12,000 | ₹15,000 |
| 31 Dec 2025 | ₹20,000 | ₹24,000 |
Extra-bed rates followed the same pattern. These figures are shown as an example of how seasonal pricing works; for the current season’s rates, please check with us directly.

Peak dates to plan around
- Christmas to New Year: the busiest and most expensive period, with separate rates for the New Year’s Eve night. Book well in advance.
- Diwali and long weekends: domestic travel spikes, so availability can tighten.
- Jaisalmer Desert Festival: usually held in January or February, with dates changing each year. Check the official Rajasthan Tourism calendar before planning around it.
If your dates are flexible, early November, mid-January to February (outside festival days) and March often offer pleasant weather with easier availability. Our guide to the best time to visit Jaisalmer goes into more detail.
Making the most of your package
A desert camp package is built around one evening and one morning, so timing matters more than it would at a hotel.
Arrive in good time for sunset
Plan to reach the camp by mid to late afternoon. That gives you time to settle in, have tea and set out on the camel safari while the light is still golden. Arriving after dark means missing the safari and sunset, which are the heart of the package.
Use the drive out
If you are coming from Jaisalmer city, spend the morning at the fort and havelis, then visit Kuldhara village on the way: it is easy to combine with a trip to Sam. Our sightseeing page has more ideas.
Do not rush the morning
Sunrise on the dunes is included in the experience even if it is not on the list. Walk out at first light, then come back for tea and breakfast before you leave. If you have a train or flight to catch, tell us when you book so we can help you plan your departure.
Families and groups
Rates are per tent for a couple, and a third guest in the same tent is charged at the extra-bed rate. For larger families or groups, book several tents together and mention children’s ages so we can advise on beds and activities. Group bookings in December fill up fastest, so the earlier you write, the more choice you have.
How to book
The quickest way is WhatsApp. To get an accurate quote in one reply, include:
- Your check-in date and number of nights
- Number of guests, including children and their ages
- Tent preference: AC or non-AC
- Expected arrival time, so we can time your safari for sunset
- Any add-ons you are interested in (jeep safari, ATV, dinner on the dunes)
- Dietary requirements
Our contact page has a short enquiry form that puts all of this into a WhatsApp message for you. You can also call +91 8302886390 or email jaisanheritagedesertcamp@gmail.com.
Comparing packages between camps
When you compare offers, line them up item by item rather than on price alone. A cheaper package that leaves out the safari, breakfast or hot water can end up costing more, or simply being less enjoyable. Questions worth asking any camp:
- Is the safari included, and is it camel or jeep?
- Are dinner and breakfast both included? Buffet or set menu?
- Is the washroom attached, with hot water?
- Is the camp on the dunes or a drive away from them?
- What are the extra-bed and child policies?
It also helps to check how the camp answers. A clear, prompt reply with a written list of inclusions and the rate for your dates is a good sign. A vague answer, or a price that changes when you ask follow-up questions, is worth noting. Recent photos of the actual tent and washroom, rather than only wide shots of the camp, tell you far more than any brochure.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in a Jaisalmer desert camp package?
Typically an overnight tent stay, dinner, breakfast, an evening cultural programme and a safari. At Jaisan Heritage Desert Camp, the package also includes a welcome drink, tea and coffee, camel safari, campfire, DJ party, room service, mineral water and free car parking.
Is the jeep safari included in the package?
At our camp, the camel safari is included and a jeep safari can be arranged on request. Ask us about availability and charges when you book.
Are desert camp rates per person or per couple?
Our rates are quoted for a couple sharing a tent, with a separate extra-bed rate for a third guest.
Why are rates higher in late December?
